It is easy to see how old Norwegian knitting patterns and our rich folk-costume tradition have inspired this collection. Solveig Hisdal lives in Fana, just south of Bergen. Design 409 is a development of one of the most well-known traditional Norwegian sweaters called "Fana-trojen".
We like to think that folk costumes are typically Norwegian, but the truth is that they are heavily inspired by patterns and styles that can be found in many countries. The saying "nothing is as international as folk art" is very true!
The unusual mixture of shiny and subdued, jewelled and simple, floral and geometrical patterns, strong and vibrant colours, is outstanding. You can see the essence of all of this in the new collection. As well, you will find garments in quiet tones of grey.
