The open factory!
Oleana is the only knitting factory in the country which is still knitting and sewing all their products in Norway. Our doors are open so that people can walk around and see the products being made. May be you would like to shop or relax and have a cup of coffee in “The Dye house” whilst you rest your eyes at the fjord just outside the big windows.
Our hope is that a visit to “Oleana, the factory by the fjord” will be a good experience!
Our production is open until 15.00 hrs. Monday to Friday. It will be a good idea to place your visit during those hours if you want to see how an Oleana garment is knitted, linked and sown together.
If you want to stop by the factory shop, it is open Monday – Saturday.
“It is early morning and quiet and strange in the knitting department. The machines have had some nocturnal rest before starting up again. The light is turned on, as is the coffee perculator in the canteen. After a drop of oil, one by one of the knitting-machines are started. The slades work slowly from side to side, stich by stich, row by row. After about half an hour, a whole back, front or sleeve slides down from under the machine, and a new garment from Oleana is on its way”
Text from the book: “Oleana, from dream to fairytale reality”
